UWC Releases its First Edition of Blue and Gold Sports Magazine for 2021

The University of the Western Cape’s (UWC) latest edition of Blue and Gold sports magazine has just been released. It features an in-depth interview - penned by internationally renowned sports journalist Robin Adams -  with UWC head rugby coach, Paul Treu, ahead of the start of the Varsity Cup Season.

Animations and Activations: A Workshop Toward Embodying Memory Through Puppets and Plants

On 9 March 2021, the CHR’s Jane Taylor and Aja Marneweck will be participating in the puppetry workshop Animations and Activations with William Ellis (Dept. of Anthropology, UWC) and Marcus Neustetter as part of the Tri-Continental Partnership between the University of Missouri, the University of the Western Cape, and Ghent University.

The Walk: UWC & Boschendal Wish Little Amal Safe Travels

As South Africa celebrated Heritage Day this year, Boschendal Estate in Franschhoek provided an ideal backdrop for the first steps of Little Amal, a three-metre puppet created by the Handspring Puppet Company from South Africa to represent the plight of a refugee child.

Confucius Institute Celebrating Heritage Day

The leadership of the Confucius Institute at UWC, Prof Benjamin Zeng and Ms. Iris Wu, together with other staff and language teachers, celebrated Heritage day by showcasing their dance moves for the #Jerusalema Dance Challenge.
