Dear guests of the European University Viadrina, for more than 25 years, the university in the twin towns of Frankfurt (Oder) and Słubice has been a place in which the European idea is very much alive.
Academics and students are working together to address issues of importance to the future of Europe. The Viadrina is committed to an interdisciplinary approach, both in its research and in its degree programmes.
Internationality is the Viadrina’s life blood and the university reaches out far beyond the European region. Around 6,500 students from more than 100 countries have come to study here. Learning to appreciate different perspectives is a matter of course at the Viadrina.
The Viadrina builds bridges – not only across the River Oder by forming numerous intensive partnerships with universities and institutes in Poland but also by reaching out beyond our region to Central and Eastern Europe as well as to France. It also has more than 250 partner universities worldwide. At the same time, the Viadrina has strong roots in Frankfurt (Oder) and regards itself as a partner for the region, promoting the spirit of enterprise and civil society.
The Viadrina is both open to the new challenges arising in Europe and open to change, while remaining true to itself. It is a university which is geographically at the heart of Europe and which is also fundamentally European in character. I invite you to get to know the Viadrina – not only on the following pages but also, I hope, by visiting us soon on the banks of the River Oder.
