University of Koblenz and Landau

The University of Koblenz-Landau is a young, medium-sized university. It emerged from an educational science college in 1990.

Research and teaching are now geared towards three interdisciplinary profile areas that are networked with one another: “Education”, “People” and “Environment”.

Education:

Within the state of Rhineland-Palatinate, the university plays an outstanding role in educational science and teacher training. It is the only university in the country to offer teacher training courses for all types of school. This core competence shapes the profile area. Important features are also the combination of pedagogy and didactics, the great importance of the extracurricular learning locations and school laboratories as well as the connection of science and school pedagogical practice. B. via the CampusSchule networks.

Human:

This profile area is shaped by the humanities, cultural and social sciences, in which languages, art and culture, politics and economics are analyzed in particular, by psychology as human science as well as by computer science, which develops extensive IT-based services for people and tested for their practical suitability.

Environment:

Three scientific approaches characterize this profile area. The environmental science approach addresses the scientifically describable environment, computer science deals with the technical-digital environment and the humanities and social sciences understand the environment as a cultural or social environment.
