The University of the Western Cape (UWC) Student Choir sang the Chinese national anthem, March of the Volunteers, on Friday February 21 to  group of Chinese lecturers as a gesture of support for the country’s battle with the coronavirus.

The 78-member choir also held up posters saying “Isolate the virus and not the people”; “We support China; “Our hands reach out”; “We are all in this together, don’t lose hope”, during their performance. UWC choir supervisor Sibusiso Njeza said: “This is our responsibility as global citizens. It might be China today, but it can be us tomorrow.”
