Annah Chuene is an International Relations Coordinator at the University of the Western Cape (UWC), where she oversees Erasmus+ projects, staff and student mobilities, internationalisation initiatives, and media and communications, including the office’s website and social media.
With over nine years of experience in international higher education, Annah is committed to fostering global collaborations and strengthening international engagement across Africa and beyond.
She has actively contributed to major international projects, including serving as the mobility toolkit leader for her institution in the IMPALA Project—an Erasmus+ Key Action 2: Capacity Building in Higher Education initiative funded by the European Commission, she is part of the steering committee for a DHET funded project on African partnership development in South Africa called APUA . In 2022, she played a key role as the secretariat for the 14th International SANORD Conference.
A distinguished youth leader, Annah has held various leadership positions within the university and community contexts. Her leadership was recognised in 2016 when she was awarded the prestigious Abe Bailey Travel Bursary by The Abe Bailey Trust. She has also engaged extensively with key stakeholders, including South Africa’s Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET), the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO), Home Affairs, foreign missions, university leadership and students from diverse backgrounds.
Passionate about internationalisation in higher education, Annah continues to drive initiatives that enhance global partnerships and academic mobility.
