Matariki Network

The University of the Western Cape (UWC) has become the eighth member of the Matariki Network of Universities. This network, renowned for its dedication to excellence in research, education, and community engagement, brings together some of the world’s leading institutions.

UWC’s inclusion reflects its unwavering commitment to advancing social justice, inclusive education, and fostering international collaboration. The historic signing ceremony took place on 4 September 2024 at Uppsala University in Sweden during the Matariki Network’s annual Executive Heads and Leads meeting. Speaking at the event, Professor Tyrone eloquently captured UWC’s guiding philosophy:

“If you want to go fast, go alone; if you want to go far, go together.”

His words resonate with UWC’s vision for meaningful, long-term partnerships that propel shared progress within this esteemed global network.
