Book Launch: The Democratic Development State

In 2015, CROP (Comparative Research Programme on Poverty), the University of Bergen and the University of the Western Cape (UWC) launched an initiative aimed at critically assessing the complex relationships between democracy, capitalism and the role of the state in promoting development focused on social justice.

Discussions over the course of the following two years culminated into a book called The Democratic Development State: North-South Perspectives edited by Chris Tapscott, Tor Halvorsen and Teresita Cruz-Del Rosario. A formal book launch was held on 27-28 February 2018, within the framework of a workshop organised at UWC’s School of Government.
