The University of the Western Cape (UWC) is pleased to host the 16th Southern African-Nordic Centre (SANORD) Annual Scientific Conference from

4-6 December 2024,

at the UWC Bellville Campus

Cape Town, South Africa

This conference brings together the 57 SANORD member institutions of higher education from both the Southern African and Nordic regions.

The hosting of the conference marks a significant milestone in enhancing and fostering strategic and sustainable academic and research collaborations.

UWC is the birthplace of the SANORD network, where in 2007, former UWC Vice-Chancellor Prof. Brian O’Connell together with other Vice-Chancellors from 6 Southern African and Nordic institutions established the network.

The 2024 SANORD conference will be the homecoming for the network. The organisation’s Central Administration is housed at UWC.
